Balance
Balance

I strongly believe in a balance between all aspects of life. It seems that too many athletes lack that balance. I believe that the pursuit of alternate endeavors simultaneously provides greater success in each venue. For me those alternate endeavors are my education and my hobby, wine.

Education

Since I started skeleton in 2001 I have pursued a large double major at Plattsburgh State University. I teach myself the majority of all of my classes while on the road. I believe that if one possesses the discipline, an education of this type, combining school with the real world is invaluable. I have currently finished my environmental science BS with a 3.83 GPA and am currently finishing my finance BS which will conclude in December.

Current Classes For The Fall Semester
Senior Project In Finance
Seminar In Professionalism
Macroeconomics
Econometrics
Corporate Financial Management
Business Aplications and Information Systems.

After 2008

I am currently looking into the distance learning program at UC Davis in Enology (wine making) to fill the two years between the completion of my double major and the 2010 Olympics. I love the subtleties and nuances in wine, the passion that it adds to life, and the stark similarities between wine making and skeleton. In each there is an uncontrollable and undefined element (some might call it art) as well as firm science. The blend of these two makes interesting sports and interesting wine. I hope to return to both passions after my career.

Careers After Skeleton

I am currently looking into multiple avenues for my post skeleton life. I will most likely follow my finance degree into the world of business. Other options still remain open including wine making and entrepreneurial pursuits. Only time will tell which is right, and I am currently preparing myself every day to take advantage of the avenue that best suits my direction and abilities.
